american graffiti

American Graffiti” is a 1973 film set in the Summer of ’62 (although many of the cars and songs were released post-1962) about the last night before leaving for college. My boyfriend and I watched this movie last night to lighten the mood after watching Gus Van Sant’sElephant” (a story based on the Columbine High School massacre), which was incredibly made but hard to watch. George Lucas‘ “American Graffiti” did the trick alright!

Here are some photos and memorable quotes from the film.

“Hey, what do you say, Curt? Last night in town… you guys gonna have a little bash before you leave?”

“Hey… zit makeup.”

“You think I care if you go off? You think I’m gonna crack up or something? Boy, are you conceited!”

“That’s bitchin’ tuck and roll! You know, I really love the feel of tuck and roll upholstery.”

Shhh. Listen, listen! Look at it this way. Now, you got three choices. One, you chicken out and in that case I let Ants tie you to the car and drag you around a little bit and you don’t want that. Right?”
No.”
Two, you foul up and Holstein hears you and, well uh… you don’t want that, right?”
No, I don’t.”
Three, you are successful and you join the Pharaohs with a car coat and a blood initiation and all that, huh?”

What’s your name?”
My name? Mud, if anybody sees you.”

“Girls don’t pay – guys pay!”

“Let’s catch ’em at the light. Jump out and flatten their tires.”

“Hey, you know a guy around here with a piss yellow deuce coupe, supposed to be hot stuff?”

“Man, I can’t keep track of all you punks runnin’ ’round here backwards.”

“You know, what, Terry. I had a pretty good time tonight”

“Get your bugaloos out baby! The Wolfman is everywhere.”

I can’t wait to check out the sequel, “More American Graffiti“.

xoxo
